Ronald Koeman’s men will face the winners of the inaugural SportPesa Super Cup in Tanzania.
Delivering the news, the former player Leon Osman told reporters at the Tanzanian National Main Stadium in Dar-es-Salaam.
“It’s a great opportunity to bring Everton to Africa. We’re the first Premier League club to come out here, another time we’ve gone ahead of everyone else and set a first and it’s going to be a great opportunity to add many more Evertonians to the world of following the Blues.
“It’s a great place to visit, to come out to and really appreciate another part of the world. It’s probably not very often that Evertonians have had chances to come to East Africa but we hope it’s the first of a number of opportunities we get to come out here and I’m sure the Evertonians will really take to this place.
“It’s a beautiful country with the coastline, the beaches, the way the sun shines off the sea – it’s absolutely fantastic, and I’m sure the players and fans will really appreciate that when they come out here,” the former Toffees midfielder said.
